Plymouth Underground

Overall Impressions

Very intimate venue but it seems well loved by the community and well looked after. The venue is a short way out of the city centre, the walk is about 10/15 minutes with various fast food outlets on the way and nearby. When you get there it is exactly what it says on the tin, underground, a fairly steep flight of steps takes you down into the venue itself.  The floor space is in a kind of inverted P shape with the Merch set up towards the back in the narrower part of the venue which makes it difficult to have a nose at what the bands have for sale. The inside of the venue is covered in either band t-shirts, posters of past shows, movie posters or just Music literature in general.  Views of the stage vary from very good to highly obscured depending on where you are.

Bar Prices

£3 for a can of Cider, not too bad for a music venue, all cans seemed to be the same price. My visit was for a sold out show yet there was only one guy working the bar, took a while to get served. The bar itself is a square shape with two openings to wait to be served, the ceiling is adorned with various band t-shirts which is a nice touch.  One slightly strange thing that I had not come across before was that the bar staff have to open every can you buy, so for Instace if you are trying to save yourself some queuing time later in the night then you’ll either have to forget it or walk around with multiple cans

Public Transport

The Underground is about a 20 minute walk from Plymouth train station, on a weekday you should comfortably make it to the station after the show for the last couple of local trains, I even noticed there was a London train quite late.
